Namira Salim congratulates India on Chandrayaan 2 mission

The first Pakistani woman astronaut, Namira Salim has praised the Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) on the Chandrayaan-2 mission and its historic attempt to make a landing on the Moon.

Namira Salim congratulates India on Chandrayaan 2 missionNamira Salim is the first Pakistani to have travelled to the North and South poles and the first Asian to skydive (in tandem) from Mount Everest. She raised a peace flag on behalf of the nation at the two poles of the world.

In her media statement she said “I congratulate India and ISRO on its historic attempt to make a successful soft landing of the Vikram Lander at the South Pole of the Moon”.

She further added “The Chandaryaan 2 lunar mission is really a giant leap for South Asia which not only makes the region proud but the entire global space industry”

India came very close to a historic achievement but has failed. India lost contact with a spacecraft when it was attempt just three minutes before to land on the moon. The United States, Russia and China have successfully landed on the Moon up till now. India wanted to become the fourth country to successfully land on the Moon but the task was not successful.

She emphasis that “Regional developments in the Space sector in South Asia are remarkable and no matter which nation leads in space, we should dissolve all political boundaries and support what unites and dominates us on Earth.”
