Pakistan's ride hailing startup Airlift raised 2.2m seed

Lahore-based ride hailing startup named “Airlift” for public transport has raised the largest-ever seed round of about $2.2 million by a startup in Pakistan.

Pakistan's ride hailing startup Airlift raised 2.2m seedAfter securing $2.2 million investment led by Fatima Group, China’s Gobi Ventures, and Indus Valley Capital, Airlift plans to extend its public transport service to Bangladesh and Kenya.

The fast, reliable and daily community transport Airlift founded by Awaab Khaakwany, Meher Farrukh, Muhammad Owais, Zohaib Ali, Usman Gul and Ahmed Ayub.

Airlift labels itself as an alternative to Uber, Careem and public transportation, allowing users to book rides on premium quality air-conditioned buses and vans that have fixed routes, stops and times, in Lahore and Karachi.

The users after signing up and logging in can reserve their seats by selecting their pick up and drop off locations or browsing the routes. Airlift’s mobile application is available for both android and iOS users.

The application allows users to track the buses in real-time and make payments as well using their credit or debit cards. Moreover, it facilitates the user giving an option to pay by cash too when they board the bus.

Airlift CEO, Usman Gul stated that “Airlift reduces both commute time and cost. Airlift’s proprietary dynamic stops technology lies at the heart of our marketplace.”
