PEMRA awards educational TV license to AIOU

Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) has officially awarded license to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to launch its own non-commercial Satellite TV channel that will be entirely used for educational purposes.

Dr Zia-Ul-Qayyum further added that this is a huge breakthrough in enhancing access of its academic programs to its around 1.4 million students all over the country, from side to side distance learning system with the support of multimedia.

The University is already running an online web-tv channel. The number of students benefiting from it and is predictable to be in thousands.

The IET also hooked in preparing multimedia academic programs and is also running FM`s radio network that broadcast diversity of academic programs from 8 am to 9 pm daily.
