Prime Minister’s Sub Task Force on IT and Telecom second meeting urged to assemble special technology zones to increase IT exports in the country.

The three Sub Task Forces also gave the endorsement concerning on IT, Telecom and Human Resource Development sectors.

PM Task Force on IT and Telecom meeting was chaired by Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman as Co-Chairman whereas, Secretary MOITT Maroof Afzal was also present in meeting.

Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman said that as a substitute of developing land for setting up special technology zones, existing buildings or infrastructure can be chosen as special technology zones to bolster Information Technology in the country.

PM Task Force Co-Chairman further added that range should be allocated in right manner and emphasized the need of promoting locally manufacturing products like mobile phones, computers, laptops etc.

It was also projected that IT linked small and medium enterprises (SMEs) should be empowered by establishing out of the ordinary technology zones. It was also suggested to develop digital content for all subjects at schools and colleges more to the point benevolent to IT training to students.

Moreover, moving ahead to the telecom sector the members of sub task force noticed that among the globe the uppermost telecom taxes were in Pakistan which must be lessen adding upto 12.5 percent Advance Income Tax on internet must be zero.
