Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) featured that there were no standards in Pakistan for vehicle congregation and parts manufactured. The government should set up national standards/safety authority for the auto industry.

According to the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), pragmatically, they have no standards to meet or tests to pass, toting up that car recalls for technical issues are purely at the prudence of the companies and there is no authority for consumers to go to if they are sold sub-standard products.

As a result, the Ministry of Science and Technology has brought up the issue identified to the notice of Pakistan Standards and Quality/Control Authority (PSQCA) and tinted there is a need to make legal and regulatory changes to set up independent, empowered vehicle principles and safety authority at the conjugal level for dealing with consumer and technical aspects in the automobile sector.

Furthermore, the frequent complaints are being filed against cars assembled in Pakistan. At present, Pakistan Standards and Quality/Control Authority (PSQCA) contains over 100 items on the compulsory list, including three-wheeler auto-rickshaws, motorcycles and tractors that got added under its comprehension in 2018.

The Pakistan Standards and Quality/Control Authority (PSQCA)  has testing laboratories in Karachi and Lahore for auto rickshaws, motorcycles and setting up of facilities for tractors is ongoing.

If there were quality labs in the country we would get certification from here but if conditions remain the same, that certifications are obtained from abroad, and then the formulation of standards will only add another technical obstacle to the sector.

Government strategy to work out a policy to give confidence at the establishment of testing labs in the private sector and not in the public sector for the automobile manufacturing.
