4th Invention to Innovation Summit, KP-2018 to be held at CECOS University, Peshawar scheduled from 21 -22 November 2018.

Annual Innovation Summit is a two-day event showcasing more than 500 potential technologies in technical sessions and exhibition. It’s a great opportunity to buy and sell technology and meet prominent dignitaries of industry, academia, public and social sector.

The meeting was attended by several ORIC heads and representative in-presence as well as online, along with industry and media representatives. 

The participating institutes of presummit meeting for the 4th Invention to Innovation Summit, KP-2018 are CECOS University, AJK University Muzaffarabad, Qurtaba University, University of Malakand, AWKU Mardan, Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak (KKKUK), University of Haripur, University of Swabi, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST), UET Peshawar, University of Science and Technology Bannu (USTB), University of Buner.

Talking on the importance of academia-industry linkages, Muhammad Atta ur Rehman Yousafzai, President Haripur Chamber of Commerce & Industry said, “universities have setup to help industries in enhancing quality of products, efficiency of processes, and improving production for which strengthening academia-industry linkages plays an important role”. 

He appreciated the role of Invention to Innovation Summit to bridge this gap. Atta ur Rehman emphasized universities to collaborate with government scientific research organization along with quality control institutions like PCSIR and PSQCA to support industry. He offered his support to host academia in Chamber office for strong ties.

Dr. Rashida Zohra, Incharge Summit lemented on the importance of need based research. She urged academia to visit industry, learn their needs and provide solutions.

“Summit is focused to provide integrated research support services to researchers and organizations. This will enable researchers to produce cutting-edge research as solution to socio-economic problems”, she further added.

Dr. Rashida highlighted the KP growing economies and science and technology priorities as: transport / logistics, waste management, herbal products, construction / urban housing, tourism / hotel management. 

The sessions of the Summit will include oral presentation and exhibition of innovative projects having potential of commercialization. Academia, industry and R&D organizations are encouraged to participate in this Summit free of cost by registering their technologies/ideas online. All the presenters will have equal chance to win cash prizes, innovation award, funds to carry out research work and support for commercialization.

A large number of ORIC departments across KP province participated in the pre-summit meeting and presented their session plans.
