University of Karachi (KU) students stood 1st among 126 projects displayed from 30 different universities from all across Pakistan at Distinguished Innovation Collaboration Entrepreneurship Foundation US -UAF Innovation event themed ‘Agriculture and Food Sciences’ held at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

University of Karachi showed full participation in the event, with 35 students presented 14 projects from the Department of Botany, Department of Agriculture and Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology and Karachi University Business School under the umbrella of ORIC- University of Karachi.

Department of Botany was shortlisted and secured 1st and 6th position. Hira Anwar and Marium Asif from botany Department, while two students from Karachi University Business School (KUBS) Bakhtiar Ali and Fabiha Erfan secured positions.

The winning team by developing environment-friendly organic plastic as a substitute for synthetic plastic, comprising two students from Department of Botany and two students from Karachi University Business School, and led by Dr. Asma Tabassum.

University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. M Iqbal Zafar gave away a cheque of Rs 100,000 to the 1st position holder of the competition.

“KU students face the challenges of the current world and have proved themselves in every field,” said KU VC Dr. Ajmal Khan while acknowledging winning students.
