National University of Science and Technology (NUST) ’s delegation consisting of 10 students with a supervisor will go to Japan for Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science on invitation from Japanese government Japan from July 22 to 30.

Takashi Kurai, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan hosted a ceremony for pre-departure at his home where travel documents were handed over to the students for their visit to Japan.

The Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Takashi Kurai hosted a pre-departure ceremony at his home and handed over travel documents to the students for their visit to Japan, a press release said.

The programme is known as “SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science” for which students of Ph.D. and Masters programmes were selected from NUST School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

The aim of the programme is tantamount to endorse exchange between the Japanese and young Asian researchers in Japanese researchers collaborating in the industry, academia, and government by helping and arranging such short-term visits of competent Asian youths for experiencing the cutting-edge Japanese technology.

This programme has been offered in Pakistan from last year where 6 high school students have availed this opportunity. Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) offers “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science” annually.

Takashi Kurai the ambassador congratulated students on their selection and highlighted that how important is to learn the new science and technology. Japan will be helping Pakistan to develop human resources for reaching sustainable progress and development.
