The memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between World Wide Fund for Nature– Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) and Information Technology University (ITU) to create and keep an effective working relationship to further their common aims of multi-disciplinary research promoting nature conservation in Pakistan.

ITU Vice Chancellor Dr. Umar Saif and WWF-Pakistan Director General Hammad Naqi Khan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Dr. Umar said that environmental pollution demanded protection of wildlife and the MoU would ensure monitoring of pollution level by deploying sensors in the already installed 300 Wi-Fi hotspots. It would also help in monitoring and tracking the blind dolphins available in four rivers of the world including Indus River, he added. A joint research fund, on matching grant basis, would be established by both organizations to ease such studies during the period of 2017-20, he said.
