Addressing the Workshop, the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research said
that biotechnology will bring food production in the country up. He urged the need for
motivation of farmers to adapt new and modern crop technology.
The real benefits will be attained through generating strong awareness about the practical
application of biotechnology products among general public and farmers at large. Apparently,
crop biotechnology has enormous prospects. It is heartening to note that progress has been made
in the field of biotech crops. There is a strong need for positive use of biotechnology for public
welfare and a commitment towards safe handling of GM (genetically modified) crops.
