STAFF REPORT PEW: The five day Biocamp was organized at CECOS University which aimed at familiarizing students with the biotechnology, its applications and role in national development. The workshop entailed students from various parts of the city.
Riaz Khattak, Vice Chancellor CECOS University said while addressing on the occasion, “The idea behind the workshop is to broaden the vision of students and giving them insight of biotechnology field and apprising them with wider career prospects in this field. Such events are necessary for grass root training of students to develop their soft skills as well”. The students were also given the opportunity to visit the laboratory and observe different biological samples i.e. cells under microscope and given a basic training of how software is used for DNA sequence comparison.
The students got inspiration from the workshop and were acquainted with the field of biotechnology and its diverse applications and career paths. Such workshops are imperative to be held on regular basis to pull maximum students towards this field because it lacks human resource in the present time and adequate measures and right policies will account for financial and human resource lacking problem in the arena of biotechnology.
