STAFF REPORT ISB: Telenor Pakistan, premium Telecommunication Company of the country has qualified as finalist for The Wall Street Journals Financial Inclusion Challenge. The competition categories were technology, education, and operational effectiveness. Technology finalist Telenor Pakistan, which offers mobile banking services i.e. EasyPaisa to about six million people.


The competition was open for non-profits and for-profit ventures and focused on the Asia Pacific region.


The finalists were selected by a panel of independent, expert judges from organizations including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Innovations for Poverty Action will seek to select finalists and a winner from each of the categories, as well as one overall winner.


The winner of the competition will be announced later this month.
