Staff Report ISD: Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, said that a draft bill to establish Pakistan Halal Authority will be moved in the Parliament soon.


He was addressing to the ‘D-8 Experts Group Meeting on Halal Sector Development’ held at Islamabad, the proposed Authority will be responsible to promote imports and exports, improve domestic and foreign trade in Halal articles and processes. Rana Tanveer Hussain said that non-muslim countries are also showing their keen interest in Halal products these days. He urged to all the Muslim countries to focus on Halal products export because that will not only escalate the economy but also create new job opportunities.


The delegates from Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, Iran, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan are also participating two days meeting. The axis of meeting is around increasing the trade in Halal Sector among the D-8 countries by strengthening and harmonizing standards, conformity assessment procedures and technical regulations for Halal Food products and services.
