Staff Report ISD: Dr Ashraf, Chairman PSF held a meeting with the David J Williams, Agricultural Counsellor Foreign Agricultural Service, US Department of Agriculture. The basic aim of this meeting was to find opportunities of cooperation and develop harmony for the science and technology projects. In this regard, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) decided to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US National Science Foundation (NSF).


In the meeting, Dr Ashraf, Chairman PSF briefed the David J Williams about different programs like research support, RandD industry and Natural Sciences Linkages Program (NSLP). He said that the spectrum of PSF for international collaboration is very wide. He also stated that due to funds shortage on part of the ministry of science and technology they could not focused on joint research program and now PSF under the NSLP program will fund some of the projects. He highlighted that this step has been taken recently to expand the mandate of NSLP. The Chairman PSF informed the David J Williams that they are planning a visit to the US in May or June in connection with the MoU with NSF of America and exploring opportunities of cooperation with other similar organizations such as the Rockefeller Foundation.


The David J Williams assured him about the US contribution to boost the cooperation in science and technology.


Chainman PSF also valued the US contribution for promotion of science in Pakistan.
