STAFF REPORT ISB: A five-day training session has recently been concluded under the University Advancement Initiative of HEC and USAID in order to enhance capacity and productivity of managers and staff of HEC and Financial Aid Offices in partner universities.


As many as 22 executives from 31 partner institutions attended in the training, which focused on concepts of project management professional certification through standard tools and techniques.


The training was organized under the Pak-USAID Merit and Needs Based Scholarship Programme, which funds scholarships for talented but needy students pursuing higher education at 31 local universities.


Speaking to the participants, Dr. Tariq Mehmood, Adviser RandD, said, “This training is a value addition to the knowledge skills and abilities to the project management unit and focal persons profiles.”


Chief guest Dr. Raza Bhatti, Member (HRD) HEC appreciated the efforts of USAID for strengthening higher education system in Pakistan.


“This work is part of the long-term commitment of US to help Pakistan build a stronger and prosperous future for its people,” he said.


USAID has so far funded more than 1,800 scholarships for Pakistani students since 2004 while it has plan to improve education opportunities for 3000 more students including 50 per cent slots for female students.
