Young Scientists Compete for Opportunity to Represent Pakistan at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2015 held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania next year

·192 Young scientists from across Punjab submitted 151 research-based projects in the categories of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Mathematics and Physics.


·Winners of the Punjab Provincial Science Fair eligible to compete at the National Science Fair, where students from all over Pakistan will participate.


·Students selected from Pakistan will be eligible to participate in the 2015 Intel ISEF, which is held in the US.


PAKISTAN, Islamabad, 13 November 2014– Intel Pakistan today concluded the second of two Punjab Science Fairs in the run-up to the Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel® ISEF), one of the world’s largest pre-college science competitions, to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaniain May 2015. During the Punjab Science Fairs, students from across the province presented research-based projects in the categories of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Morethan 190students and 57 teachers from Punjab registered in the fair with a total of 151 projects registered. Present at the occasion as Guests of Honor were Dr. Noor Mohammad Butt, Chairman, Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT), Prof. Emeritus, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, President, ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), Mr. Muhammad Ijaz, Joint Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Amjad Hussain, Joint Scientific Advisor, International Liaison, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and Dr. H.U. Khan, Chief Scientific Officer, Pakistan Science Foundation


Winners of the Punjab Science Fair will be eligible to compete at the National Science Fair, which will take place in Islamabad early next year. Projects will be assessed by a panel of renowned judges, with winners eligible to compete at the 2015 Intel® ISEF which will be held from May 10thto May 15thin Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
