STAFF REPORT ISB: Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (YAAS) China have signed an MoU to promote the development oriented scientific research in the field of agriculture, and to strengthen partnership between the two countries.

The MoU, signed at the PARC head office, will facilitate further collaboration between both the countries in the activities based on their respective academic and technical needs and other priorities. It will enable the representative agencies, PARC and YAAS, jointly to develop organization of joint collaborative research programmes on themes of mutual interest; organization of joint academic activities such as training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences, exchange of scientists, research scholars and students, exchange of research and scientific materials, publications and information; and exchange of cooperation deemed appropriate by both institutions.

The major fields of collaboration are crop production research which include cereal crops, food legumes, industrial crops, oilseed crops and horticultural crops, plant protection research, biotechnology development, and collaboration on socio-economic research.

Dr. Munir, Secretary PARC, and Li Xuelin, Vice-President YAAS, P. R. China, signed the MoU whereas Dr. Nadeem Amjad, Member (NRD)/Acting Chairman PARC, Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Member (SSD) PARC, Lin Kun, Director (Tea Research Institute), Li Rong Fu, and Director (Coffee Research Centre), Feng Lu (YAAS) China witnessed the ceremony.
