STAFF REPORT LHR: In the pursuit of enabling technologically sophisticated manpower for industrial uplift, TUSDEC has joined hands with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to foster the solar power industry with the provision of technically adept manpower in the specialized areas of photovoltaics and solar water heating systems.

TUSDEC trained a pool of 125 solar technicians under GIZ FIT (Funds for Innovative Training) initiative of TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of Netherlands and the Germany and implemented through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

A meticulous display of candidates assignments on solar equipment was also arranged at the high tech solar lab, established to impart practical training to the students.

The programme was designed to punctuate more focus on the industry driven practical trainings so that the graduates would be immediately assimilated in the local job market, according to the company source.

Skilled manpower is the requisite for a successful technological intervention in any industrial sector and these would further fuel up the proliferation of solar technology in the country.
