STAFF REPORT IBD: Pakistan needs to establish a taskforce on water scarcity with a view to devising a water security action plan by June 2014; this plan should prioritise different aspects of water conservation, recycling, harvesting, and dam storage.


Dr. Maudood Khan, senior research scientist at USRA at NASAs Marshall Space Flight Centre in Huntsville, Alabama, floated this suggestion while addressing a seminar on Water scarcity and future vision 2025. Organised by Shifa Tameer.


Dr. Khan termed the seminar as marking of the initiation of the discussion to ensure adequate supply of clean water.


Dr. Shakil from NUST said Pakistan summer monsoon climate system needs research and training sessions on institutional arrangements for policy implementation and impacts of climate change.
