STAFF REPORT IBD: More than 75 schools, colleges and universities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have participated in the World Space Week (WSW) activities recently concluded in Pakistan.


The activities were organized by the Institute of Space Technology (IST).


The World Science Week is observed annually from Oct 4-10 to raise awareness about the space technology and promote its peaceful usage amongst students and the masses.


According to details, SUPARCO celebrated the Week in as many as 11 major cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Larkana, Gilgit and Abbottabad.


“In the federal Capital, IST marked celebrate the event by planning various activities,” said Deputy Director IST, Raza Butt, told the media.


He said that these activities included bilingual essay writing competition, painting and sketching competition, space model display competition and space theatre.


Besides, e-poster designing competition, aero modelling competition, paper plane competition, water rocket competition, glider competition, and astronomy night are also the part of space week.


The World Space Week is the largest public space event in the world and that it is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition.
