fast-university-lahoreSTAFF REPORT LHR: The FAST, Lahore, in collaboration with different universities of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has recently organized the SAARC Coding Competition. Last year the competition was organised with the collaboration of Pakistan and India but this year the scope was much more expanded.

According to details, the list of collaborating universities included Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Jamia Milia, Delhi, NSIT, Delhi, Heritage Institute of Technology, West Bengal, NUCES-ACM (FAST-NU Lahore, GC University, Lahore, Sri Lanka, University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa.

Although it was a tough competition, but students from Bangladesh performed really well and won the competition.

The top three positions were “choker” from BUET, Bangladesh won the first prize, second prize went to “Apache” from IIT Delhi, while the third position was secured by the “Segment3” from IIIT, Hyderabad.

The competition comprises 8 questions that were quite tough. And the time the duration was five hours. The Code Chef provided the simulation and technical support and judged the whole competition. More than 200 teams from all the collaborating universities had participated in the competition online.

According to market experts, such events should be held frequently, as it helps in developing confidence in students to compete on international platform.
