A PRE-CONFERENCE workshop on basic tools for clinical research was held on February 1, 2013. The event was facilitated by arranged by Khurrum Zaki, CEO Dimension Research while supported by Dr Rabika Liaqaut Ali Khoja (Medical Manager Dimension Research) and Miss Faryal.




The workshop discussed scope of research and development in upcoming era. Moreover role of clinical research and Pharmacovigilance in promoting health science research were also the part of the workshop discussion. Hands on training dealing case studies were put into practice to train young researchers. Question answers session was held in the end of workshop to clear more the concepts of Ethics and guidelines that are the integral part of Clinical Research. Speakers told about laws and ethics that were previously followed, and now on that basis latest Research guidelines are set up in the form ICH/GCP. The bottom line was evidences from clinical trials are fundamental approach towards ethical medical practice.




The second p-e conference workshop was held on February 1, 2013 on bio-safety issues/concerns for medical/paramedical profession. It was facilitated by Sikander Khan Sherwani (FUUAST) and supported by Prof Shaheen Sharafat (DUHS), Dr Umm-e-Hani (Environmental Studies, UOK), Sheikh Saqib Rafique, Junaid Alam (Liaquat National Medical College) as Chief Guest.




The workshop dealt with fundamentals of the importance of Laboratory Biosafety, how Environmental hazards play their part in spreading health issues how to overcome such hazards, by extending conversation speakers told that Bio Hazard signs are of great significance and should be placed at the entrance and exits of Labs to avoid the chances of Mishaps. Regarding Lab care issues it was addressed that the open surfaces and highly exposed areas where lab equipments are kept should be decontaminated once in a day. Highlighted points were on Laboratory Cabinets their types and applications.




The post-conference workshop was held on February 1 on the topic of Supervising Research Projects. It was facilitator by Dr Zarrin S Siddiqui (Associate Professor in Medical Education, University of Western, Australia.




Practice based training on directing correct paths to follow in supervising research projects, with the ethics and regulatory essentials that possess root level significance in heading the same. International trends and research guidelines to better lead Research Projects.




The post-conference workshop was held on February 2 on the topic of epidemology and basic statsistics. The event was facilitator by Dr Syed Adnan Ali and Dr Hussain Bux Kolachi.




Details of epidemiology and related issues were the bottom line of the workshop followed by the tests and statistical analysis involved in research projects explained broadly by the experts in the field, with practicing questions, the workshop was enriched with healthy discussion on both of the topics with their respective speakers.




During the first day of the event on February 2, the inaugural speech was made by Sadaf Ahmed, CEO AEIRC. She diversifies the concepts of Health Science Research future, followed by accomplishments of the Organization. She also highlighted the role of recent advancements that are essential requirement in the field of Research and Development.




The session started with the lecture delivered by Dr Iqbal Chaudhary (Director ICCBS) on Vision for Scientific Papers and Publications in which he explained why research publication is necessary? What is the purpose and function of the same in current scientific society he highlighted the values of research papers and authentic resources to carried out the same, he also elaborated the importance of impact factor and citations of research papers, next Prof. Dr. D. J. Haleem from PCMD, University of Karachi discussed the Biochemistry of Stress in Health and Disease.




The second day took its start by the speech of Khurram Zaki CEO of Dimension Research promoting the role of Clinical Trials and Its Core Issues. He also elaborated on pharmacovigilance. The track followed by Dr Obaid Ali from Ministry of health discussing Global Regulatory Network on Concern and Expectations, later Environment and its impact on health, a lecture by Dr Majid Mumtaz took the center of attention by participants.




Sadaf Ahmed ended the session with great regards to all Participants, Chief guests, Guest of honor, Speakers, Panelists, Organizing Team, Ambassadors, Volunteers and our generous Sponsors whose contributions make this conference happen to be a memorable one.
