STAFF REPORT IBD: Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Ministry of Science and Technology and Pink Ribbon Campaign (PRC) Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an aim to promote research on Breast Cancer in Pakistan.

The agreement envisages that both PSF and PRC will work jointly in order to promote research on Breast Cancer in Pakistan, especially in the areas of epidemiology, risk factors and disease management.

1_optPSF and PRC will sensitize and encourage RandD organizations and other stakeholders/donors to seek technical and financial support to conduct research on Breast Cancer. PSF and PRC will team-up to support research through funding and collaboration with related RandD organization working on Breast Cancer.

Both the organizations will raise awareness against the disease through awareness seminars and lectures at higher educational institutions as well as PSF mobile caravan services around the country depending upon resource availability.

Federal Secretary for SandT Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar, PRC Chairperson Fariba Thomson and PRC CEO Omer Aftab in their addresses spoke on breast cancer prevalence in Pakistan, symptoms of breast cancer and precautionary measures.

PSF Chairman Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro during the Technical Session-I highlighted PSF programs to promote SandT research in the country as well as its different awareness campaigns through seminars, lectures and exhibitions all around the country.

Earlier, addressing the inaugural ceremony of “National Consultation on Breast Cancer” Federal Minister for SandT Mir Changez Khan Jamali spoke at length about government measures to control the breast cancer in the country.
