STAFF REPORT IBD: The NUST Science Society has recently organized another session as an extension to its Meet-the-Scientist series. This time the attendants had the chance to meet Maj. Gen. Dr. Azhar Mahmood Kayani, a cardiologist with over 30 years of clinical experience.

The session was attended by students and faculty of NUST as well as Dr. Bilal, Principal CES, Dr. Mujahid, Principal SCME and Dr. Shahid, HOD Materials Engineering, SCME. The Chief Guest on this occasion was J. C. Chris Willman, CEO of NRG Bio-fuel Inc. Canada, says a press release issued here.

On the occasion, Dr. Azhar Mahmoods lecture focused primarily on Cardio-Vascular Diseases (CVD). He stressed on the commonly known phrase prevention is better than cure. He also discussed the high risk factors and easy changes in lifestyle to combat disease.

While answering audience queries, the guest speaker shed light on his early life in his small village, which he recalled with a smile and stated how he owed his success to the place. He operates a free clinic there, which he attends every weekend.

Maj. Gen. Dr. Azhar has the privilege of being the personal physician to the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He is currently the Executive Director of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Dr. Azhar also has the honour of serving as President of Pakistan Cardiac Society and Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at AFIC.
