STAFF REPORT IBD: Though the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated the process of auctioning the 3G lecense in the country, yet it has no substantial budget for marketing and procurement of the 3G, sources closed to the development disclosed to this scribe.
They said that the telecom watchdogs hard financial days are not yet over as the sources said that the 3G auction expenditures have not been included in the Authortiys budget for the current financial year. however, the PTA Chairman is seeking funds for the expenses, they maintained.
On the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the authority has reinitiated its efforts for process of the 3G license and in this regard it has planned to advertise massively the 3G spectrum in national and international print media.
It is to be mentioned that earlier PTA had advertised 3G spectrum auction by publishing information memorandum, which had drawn a sharp criticism from the stakeholders.
