STAFF REPORT KHI: The student members of Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) UMT Branch has participated in the annual IIE/ Arena Simulation Competition recently held worldwide.

It was entirely based on a real world case study which was sent to every participant, who was also required to model the entire problem in the Arena Software which is internationally used for discrete event simulation.

Although, the students could not win the competition but they were rewarded with participation certificates by the Rockwell Software company, the sponsor of the event, says a press release received here.

It was for the first time that any team of industrial engineers from Pakistan participated in this competition which was participated by total 180 universities internationally. Our participation was highly appreciated by the IIE community.

“We believe in knowledge sharing and thus a lecture and a presentation session were arranged by the UMT-IIE Society. The lecture covered the Arena simulation software which delivers the technology required to support all aspects of a simulation project,” said a representative of the delegation while commenting on the competition.
