5G is also contributing to healthcare, making services like tele-consultation, tele-surgery and intensive care unit visits possible. PRESENTER China Mobile “Through 360-degree VR holograms, families of ICU patients can visit them remotely, which is already implemented in some hospitals.” The combination of 5G and VR technology allows people to work and play in virtual worlds. Everyone in their own home simultaneously enter a virtual space where they can participate in remote collaborations such as exhibitions and forums.” Currently, scientific research institutions and companies are cooperating to accelerate the research and development of 6G technology. CHEN ZHIPING Vice President, ZTE “6G research has received extensive attention. It usually takes 10 years to develop a new generation. We started 6G research very early, and the entire industry chain has done a lot of work to build a 6G ecosystem. Enterprises and academic research institutions, including ZTE, are investing resources in researching 6G applications, scenarios and needs.” Chen estimates the large-scale commercial use of 6G will be realized in 2030, and there will be more room for imagination in smart life.
