Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) has signed a memorandum of understanding for promoting a sustainable agricultural environment for the farmers in the rural areas.

The association aims at helping small farmers by an expert training session to adopt modern cultivation techniques in their farming under the climate change scenario.

PARC, thro expert training sessions, will educate the farmers to increase yield by cultivating high yielding disease resistant varieties, efficient use of fertilizers and pesticides, land preparation and post-harvest techniques. While Khushhali bank’s agreement giving a thriving environment to small farmers by a combination of financial services and CSR activities necessitating regular training programs for the farmers.

This training program on quarterly basis regularly consistently will expose farmers to adopt best practices of farming according to market demand.

President Khushhali Bank, Ghalib Nishtar, said that the agreement will help farming community to promote more sustainability within the agriculture sector of Pakistan and bring agriculture experts and the farming community together.

He further said that the bank is not only supporting financially but also technically. This will improve the living standard of millions of farmers and national economy, adding that this alliance with PARC will strengthening agri sector for boosting the country’s economy,” he added.

Chairman, PARC, Dr. Yusuf Zafar assured greatest support from PARC to educate farmers on modern agriculture, that are real guardian of national food security.

He also added that PARC has foreign qualified expertise in all aspects of agriculture, livestock, and water.

We have a training institute from the very beginning and have trained a lot of farmers, field workers and extensions with the help of JICA and other agencies.

This programme will provide opportunities to our scientists to reach the farming community and transmit their skills with KMBL.
