LUMS Chemistry Program Opens Admission To BS, MS And PhD Programs

Since 2012, LUMS chemistry program has almost 100% (Yes ~100%) acceptance rate of its BS students in top universities in USA (including MIT, Princeton and Chicago etc.) in fully-funded PhD programs. Majority of MS students are also following the same path now. Students get multiple admission offers before graduation. About 25 students were admitted in US universities only last year from department of chemistry program (students and lab staff).

LUMS chemistry program opens Admission to BS, MS and PhD programs. Admission to all programmes is purely on merit and independent of students’ ability to pay the related tuition fees. Once a student has been admitted to a programme, there are several mechanisms in place to provide financial support based on need and merit.

Consider that MS programs in basic sciences at LUMS (Biology, Chemistry, Math and Physics) are subsidised and all PhD programs at LUMS are fully-funded i.e., no tuition fee and a minimum stipend of Rs. 60,000/month for each PhD student. About 1/3 of all LUMS students get financial aid from LUMS because what matters there is “The Merit” only. Those who will complete admission requirements by summer 2023, can apply now.

All awards are reassessed each academic year based on performance, need, available resources and prevailing University policies. LUMS is committed to providing as much financial assistance as possible within the limits of its available resources. Nevertheless, the University may not be able to meet all requests for financial assistance, and it is strongly recommended that applicants secure as much of their own funding as possible.

Several Merit and Need-Based Scholarships are available for students who meet specific criteria; LUMS Interest- Free Loan, Merit Scholarship and Four Basic Sciences Award.

The LUMS MS Chemistry programme, offered by the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), is an exciting opportunity for students to take advantage of the conducive and thriving research environment to contribute effectively in the development of science.

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering aspires to establish itself as an internationally recognised and globally competitive centre for graduate teaching and research in a wide variety of chemical disciplines that include Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Materials Chemistry, Catalysis, Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry.
