To support economic development in Southeast Asia (SEA) and Pakistan, Google has launched the Google for Startups Accelerator (GFSA) program in the region to help entrepreneurs build successful businesses, grow their revenue, and create new jobs. Google for Startups Accelerator, Google said it would accept applications from startups focused on solving the region’s most critical challenges, particularly in financial technology, health technology, retail/e-commerce, and B2B solutions for SMEs. Designed to serve top growth-stage startups, GFSA is an opportunity for startup founders to get closer to their customers and grow their businesses. The three-month training program will enroll up to 15 seed and series A startups that will solve specific challenges through remote and in-person group learning sessions, sprint projects, and 1-to-1 mentoring from Google experts. The GFSA program will provide early-stage startups with accelerated learning, mentoring from Google experts, and networking with other entrepreneurs. The program includes customized mentorship, access to Google’s artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud, Android, and web experts, and training in product design, business strategy, customer acquisition, and leadership development.

Google has supported over 90 startups since its first GFSA program in 2016, raising more than USD5.4 billion in funding and creating over 1,600 jobs across Southeast Asia and Pakistan. Google for Startups Accelerator, The platform reaches out to contributors who have an impact on the communities they represent and whose work has the potential to produce significant change. HealthMetrics, a Malaysian company, participated in the GFSA 2017 and has connected more than 1,000 companies to their partner healthcare providers. Now, these companies have access to HealthMetric’s accurate benchmarking and data analytics reporting. Another notable alumnus is DeafTawk from Pakistan, which participated in GFSA 2020. The company has provided solutions for deaf people through its mobile app, including online sign language interpretation, audio-video translation, and training. Today, DeepTawk has a pool of more than 1,100 interpreters and has helped nearly 18,000 people in Singapore and Pakistan.
