COMSTECH Signs Mou With IOFS

Astana Based IOFS Fosters The Socio-Economic Development Of Its Member Countries With Ultimate Goal Of Promoting Food Security

OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed at COMSTECH Secretariat by Coordinator General COMSTECH and Director General, IOFS. Astana based IOFS fosters the socio-economic development of its member countries with ultimate goal of promoting food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development, whereas Islamabad based COMSTECH builds indigenous capabilities of OIC member states in the fields of science and technology through cooperation and mutual assistance.

In pursuit of common objectives both organizations intend to establish a general framework to facilitate and implement the collaboration and cooperation in areas of common interest. IOFS-COMSTECH partnership will focus on scaling-up ongoing initiatives and exploring new opportunities to collaborate on global, regional and country-level priorities. The areas of cooperation include: joint projects, identifying S&T needs of OIC states, capacity-building activities in agriculture and food security, exchange of information, and joint research.
