PS5: FRUSTRATED AMAZON BUYERS RECEIVE COFFEE MACHINES, FRYERS, AND CAT FOOD INSTEAD OF NEW CONSOLE

Customers who pre-ordered Sony’s PlayStation 5 console from Amazon were given products they never ordered – including a coffee machines, foot massager, and cat food – instead of the new console.

Journalist Bex April May tweeted that her order of the new console had been marked as “missed” by Amazon but that there had been no attempt to deliver.

She then received a package in the evening of an “unsolicited” air fryer.

Others had similar complaints. “Similar thing happened to me except I receive a PlayStation 5 box but it was empty inside”, one user said, complaining that Amazon “have been no help won’t replace it or anything.”

“Heard multiple theft stories as well on Reddit”, he added.

“Got some packing tape and a fitness kit”, another user claimed, and a fourth also said they had received tape. Others complained that they had received a George Foreman grill and cat food.

“We’re all about making our customers happy, and that hasn’t happened for a small proportion of these orders. We’re really sorry about that and are investigating exactly what’s happened”, Amazon said in a statement to The Independent.

We’re reaching out to every customer who’s had a problem and made us aware so we can put it right. Anyone who has had an issue with any order can contact our customer services team for help.”

The PlayStation 5 has been in short supply due to logistics issues in the UK. Retailers including Currys PC World, Amazon, Game, and many others reported limited stock, with consoles selling out the moment they were available.

Some UK customers, frustrated with national offerings, rushed to Amazon’s German site on launch day in order to try and purchase the new console, but visitors to the page only saw a message that the console was unavailable and the option to buy accessories.

Sony has said that more consoles will be available “through the end of the year” but Microsoft, with its competing Xbox Series X console, has said that it did not expect Xbox supply to match demand until possibly April. It is unlikely that there will be much difference between stock of the Xbox Series X and the PS5.
