The National Incubation Centre is hosting Hackivate 3.0, a virtual Agri-Innovation hackathon to find practical innovative solutions for the challenges faced by the Agriculture Sector in Pakistan.
Hackathons are tech-based competitions in which a large number of people work together to solve problems in innovative ways, often via computer programming.
The launch event will take place on November 11 and aims to discuss the future of agriculture through innovation and will be attended by panelists from organisations such as Jazz, Engro, FAO, Neelas, Kausar Group/Walled City, and Ubank.
Problem statements have been gathered directly from those who work in the Agriculture space highlighting the challenges they face regularly. Participants are expected to find solutions for agricultural problems in Pakistan and the world.
These problem statements tap into over twelve areas within the Agri Innovation space, for example, technology Innovation, precision Agriculture, smart Irrigation, research, development and training, food waste, a marketplace for farmers, and much more.
Pakistan is in dire need to upgrade and digitalise the agriculture sector; “increase in agricultural productivity can happen when policies are framed, which will benefit the farming community. We want to bring a better balance between different sectors of the economy, which include manufacturing, agriculture, and services,” said Syed Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research.
Participants will be competing to win cash prizes and the top three winners will have the opportunity to connect with stakeholders, donors, and partners that will help implement their ideas. finding solutions for agricultural problems in Pakistan and the world.
