On the second day of RAISE 2020 — a five-day virtual summit on the Responsible AI for Social Empowerment, organised by MeitY — Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the winners of AatmaNirbhar Bharat AI Start-up Pitch Fest.

Artificial intelligence has the power to solve many societal challenges and act as an enabler for inclusion, and, therefore, it is required to promote and identify such innovative solutions for the betterment of the society. The aim of this AI Solution Challenge was to encourage such innovative AI solutions developed by Indian startups.

The AI Start-up Pitch Fest announced 21 AI startups from industries like healthcare, edtech, smart mobility, transportation, agriculture etc. with 15 winners and six special mentions based on the work that they are performing. The winners have been decided by a panel of jury consisting of experts from the industry, academia and government.

The aim of this AI Solution Challenge was to encourage such innovative AI solutions developed by Indian startups.

The AI Start-up Pitch Fest announced 21 AI startups from industries like healthcare, edtech, smart mobility, transportation, agriculture etc. with 15 winners and six special mentions based on the work that they are performing. The winners have been decided by a panel of jury consisting of experts from the industry, academia and government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further announced that top winners in each category would get cash awards of Rs 20 lakh each. Such a competition will allow these startups to showcase their solutions to the world and to VCs. Here is the list of the winners, in alphabetical order:

Artivatic.ai

Artivatic.ai won the challenge in the healthcare category with their product DARVIN, which is dedicated towards health-tech, wellness, genetics & health insurance. The product, DARVIN, is a full-stack healthcare platform designed for healthcare institutions, hospitals, patients, insurance companies, clinics, TPAs and more. Founded by Layak Singh and Puneet Tandon in 2017, Artivatic.ai has been established to empower insurance, broker and re-insurance businesses and developers to re-imagine insurance products with low-cost, modular API infrastructure. Its platform enables businesses and consumers to have in-depth multi-source data-focused intelligence & decisions. 

CogniABle

CogniABle is a winner in the education category with their machine learning-based assistive technology that can provide early detection of autism spectrum disorder. Founded by researchers and scientists from IIT-Delhi, along with paediatricians, psychologists and BCBA’s from India and USA in 2016, CogniAble has been established to bring affordability, accessibility and high quality diagnose and treatment on Autism condition on the fingertips. CogniAble is an AI-based organisation, which claims to prepone the early detection of Autism to 1.5 years of child’s age and, therefore, significantly enhance the quality of life of the child on Autism. It can further improve the capacity and quality of the special education department in schools by building processes and data-based decision making. 

Embibe

Embibe, also known as Indiavidual Learning, is an AI-powered learning and score improvement platform that has won the challenge in the education category. This Mumbai-based startup is using AI to disrupt the education space by providing a platform for traditional educators to adopt personalisation for students in the classroom. Founded in 2012 by Aditi Avasthi, this startup uses technologies like deep learning engine, artificial intelligence and machine learning to create personalised educational content for student engagement. 

ENIXTA Innovations

ENIXTA Innovations is an artificial intelligence company that enables all online businesses to enhance their customer engagement conversations, deeply across the web. The company has won in the NLP category, for their extraordinary usage of AI, NLP and machine learning to turn customers’ voices into actionable insights. It’s AI algorithms analyses millions of user reviews across categories and product technical specifications to provide a balanced scorecard to include user expressed sentiments. 

GingerMind.ai

One of the three winners that won in the others category is GingerMind.ai, which was established in 2015, by Gaurav Mittal. The startup won the AI Solution Challenge with its AI-based products created to aid visually impaired people in 160+ countries. Eye-D is one of the flagship products of the company that has improved the quality of life of visually impaired people using artificial intelligence. The project Eye-D is supported by the government of Karnataka, USAID, UK Government, the Government of Spain and many leading corporates and organisations. The startup believes that using technology, they can remove terms like impairment, challenged and marginalised from human vocabulary, one section at a time.

Haptik

Haptik is the second company that won the challenge in the NLP category with its intelligent virtual assistants. Founded by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev, Haptik provides a holistic conversational AI solution that can accelerate the AI journey with its all-inclusive platform built-in with domain-specific natural language models, and ready-to-deploy smart skills and flexible integrations. Haptik has currently reached over 100 million devices, processed over three billion conversations to date and helped many Fortune 500 companies with their customer experience.

Intello Labs 

Intello Labs is a Gurugram-based agritech company that has won the AI solution challenge with their AI-based tools that has been developed to monitor the quality of and to grade fruits and vegetables. Founded in 2016 by Milan Sharma, Nishant Mishra, Himani Shah and Devendra Chandani, Intello Labs leverages computer vision and deep learning technology to detect variance from specifications, matching output to needs for reducing food wastage.

Nayan India Science And Technologies

Won the challenge in the smart mobility and transportation section, this Delhi-based startup, Nayan India built an AI and computer vision solution to solve traffic menace and bring down accidents, dangerous driving and traffic violations. Founded by Jayant Ratti, this startup is renowned for developing innovative product-based services that can capture road conditions and traffic violations. Some of its product services include intelligent incident reporting, city-wide coverage, personal safety, law-breaking, dangerous load in passenger vehicles, and dangerous good transportation.

Rezo.ai 

The third startup that won in the NLP category is Rezo.ai, which is an AI-powered platform designed to automate conversations, reduce resolution time and enhance customer experience over voice, email, chat, WhatsApp and social. Rezo.ai is a Noida-based startup that leverages deep learning and neural networks to understand customers and simplify workflows by performing tedious manual tasks for efficient and effective customer interactions. The startup was established in 2017 by two alumni of IIT Delhi — Manish Gupta and Dr Rashi Gupta.

RoadMetrics

RoadMetrics is the second company that won the challenge in the smart mobility and transportation category with its AI-based solution that can accurately map road information at scale. The startup detects all road and street-level features using an advanced AI-based algorithm that includes road surface details, street assets, informatory signs and much more. This enterprise-grade application, founded by Dipen Babariya and Mishal Jariwala in 2007, uses AI to extract road and street-level data to facilitate the process of road safety.

SigTuple Technologies

Coming back to the healthcare category, the second company is SigTuple Technologies that has leveraged AI along with robotics and data science to develop smart screening solutions, to make healthcare affordable as well as accurate and accessible for everyone. Founded by Tathagato Rai Dastidar in 2015, this Bangalore-based health-tech startup is aiming to use technology to transform quality healthcare delivery in India, by spearheading a diagnostic revolution with multidisciplinary innovation. Using AI, the startup built intelligent screening solutions to aid diagnosis with a robust quality management system in place.

Sequretek

Out of the three companies that won in the other category, one is Sequretek, which is a Bangalore based startup that is known to provide solutions to secure information for enterprises of the future. Founded by Anand Naik and Pankit Desai in 2013, this startup claims to offer advanced solutions to businesses to manage their organisational assets and brands. Its AI- and ML-driven technologies utilised in end-to-end cybersecurity offerings ensure that companies are equipped against all threats, known and unknown. 

Sirena Technologies

Another company that won the AI solution challenge at RAISE 2020 is Sirena Technologies. Bangalore-based Sirena Technologies was established with an idea of making an advanced humanoid in India. The startup won the challenge with their first Indian humanoid robot — Nino, which is a platform to learn and experiment and act as an educational companion to kids in schools. It is a part of SKIP — Sirena Knowledge and information Program — that focuses on teaching kids about technology. This robot talk, walk, dance, sing, play and work wonders with its inherently built intelligence.
