Torchlight-II’-is-your-Epic-Store-giveaway-this-week

The Epic Games Store is giving Torchlight II away this week, absolutely free. The game costs $899 (R150) under normal circumstances. You have until 23 July to download it for mahala.

Epic Store gave away no less than three games last week: The Escapists 2, Killing Floor 2 and Life Planet. They have no reverted back to their original price tags. Here’s what you need to know about this week’s freebie.

AVAILABLE FROM EPIC GAMES THIS WEEK — 16 TO 23 JULY

‘TORCHLIGHT II’

Torchlight II, which was developed by Runic Games and published by Perfect World Entertainment back in 2012, is a co-op RPG (role-playing game) filled to the brim with randomised levels, enemies and loot.

Capturing all the flavour and excitement of the original, Torchlight II expands the world and adds features players wanted most, including online and LAN multiplayer.

There are four classes of characters to choose from, and the creators vow that “you’ll have a variety of play styles at your fingertips”. In addition, each class can be played as either male or female, with customised cosmetic features to boot.

You can also play co-op with friends via LAN or over the Net. If you don’t want to play with anybody you know, Runic Game’s matchmaker service will connect you to other players around the world.

Torchlight II boasts a vast overworld with multiple towns just begging to be explored. The experience comes complete with changing seasons.

“Fight through rain, snow, day and night. Level randomisation ensures new layouts, paths, loot, and monsters every time you play”.

It’s surprisingly fun. But don’t take my word for it. Chris Thursten from PC Gamer gave it a score of 88 out 100 and describes it as “the conservative underdog, the source of both its most impressive successes and its most visible limitations”.

‘THE ESCAPISTS 2’

The Escapists 2, which was developed by Team 17 and Mouldy Toof Studios, and published by Team17 Digital Ltd back in August 2017 is a simulation strategy game described as “a great sequel that refines and improves” its prequel.

‘KILLING FLOOR 2’

Killing Floor 2, which was developed and published by Tripwire Interactive, contains mature content recommended for gamers over the age of 18. Sorry, kiddos. According to the developers:

Lifeless Planet, which was developed by Stage 2 Studios and published by Serenity Forge, is a third-person action-adventure game about an astronaut that discovers an abandoned Russian town on a distant planet.
