NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi announces minimization in the fees of educators amidst the pandemic COVID-19. The Vice-Chancellor of NED Karachi, Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi promulgated about 20 percent reduction in the semester fees due to the Covid-19.

In accordance with the details, the Vice-Chancellor NED university also announced to waive off the hostel rent for the students residing in varsity hostels from all over Pakistan.

Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, informed that the administration promulgated relief for students despite knowing that varsity was going through some sort of financial upheavels due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is applicable to the matter here to mention that University students from across the country gathered outside the office of the Higher Education Commission in Islamabad protesting for the demand of their full semester fee to be waived completely.

They also wanted the varsities to halt their online classes and without conducting any exams promote the university students to the next semester.

With boards, notices and placards in the bare hands of resented and begrudged students, loud shoutings of slogans echoed and the students blocked the capital’s Service Road for traffic.

In the last week, the academic council meeting of Karachi University approved and then aired a proposal to initiate online lectures for the university students as authorised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The online meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi explicitly discussed the future line of action of the university in a great detail in accordance with the recommendations of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
