Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 getting a new software update that improves calling experience with VoWiFi in India. In addition, the update also brings two new features – Huawei Assitant and Smart Charging to level up user experience and device performance.
Previously, Huawei and Honor upgraded their old devices with these features alongside April 2020 security update in India.
In contrast, this latest update for Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 users provides VoWiFi, Huawei Assistant, Smart Charge, and April 2020 Android patches.
HUAWEI Y9 PRIME 2019 UPDATE THE CHANGELOG:
Calls: Enables the VoWiFi features for certain carriers.
Huawei Assistant: Adds Huawei Assistant to the home screen, providing smart reminders personalized news, and other content relevant to you.
Security: Integrates Android security patches released in April 2020 for improved system security.
Smart Charge: Not mentioned in the changelog, but it’s part of the update.
FEATURE DETAILS:
VoWiFi: Wi-Fi Calling feature enables users to use smartphones that support VoWiFi to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi connection. Currently in India, only Jio and Airtel networks are offering VoWiFi services.
To activate Wi-Fi Calling:
You can activate the VoWiFi calling by going to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data > Wi-Fi Calling > tap on Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.
Or via simply to Phone dialer > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling, tap the Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.
Huawei Assistant: Huawei Assistant provides smart reminders, personalized news, and other content relevant to you. The assistant is accessible via the home screen.
Just swipe right on the home screen to access Huawei Assistant (or left if you are using a bi-directional language). Huawei Assistant can’t be accessed directly from AppGallery.
Smart Charge: Preserve battery health by adapting to your charging routine. Charging may be paused to delay charging your device to 100% until needed.
Activate (default): Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Smart Charge.
April 2020 Security: April 2020 security update includes patches from Google and brings fixes to 5 critical, 12 high, and 1 medium level of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).
