Pakistan starts beta tests of China-made coronavirus vaccine

Pakistan is going to start clinical trials announced by the National Institute of Health (NIH) Executive Director Major General Aamer Ikram explained China has prepared a vaccine against COVID-19 and it has been given to Pakistan for clinical trials immediately.

They are hopeful that made in China vaccine against the deadly coronavirus would be launched in the next three months in Pakistan. China is providing us the vaccines for the clinical trial on an immediate basis.

As the race for virus vaccine is going on in the world and  Germany, UK has started trials as well.

NIH is completing the required procedures to launch the vaccine trials in the country and soon the trial will be initiated.

Beijing approved the first trial for a vaccine developed by the military-backed Academy of Military Medical Sciences and Hong Kong-listed biotech firm CanSino Bio on March 16.

SARS-CoV-2 seems to accumulate mutations slowly; even so, variants might pose a challenge for a vaccine. In test-tube experiments, the Sinovac researchers mixed antibodies taken from monkeys, rats, and mice given their vaccine with strains of the virus isolated from COVID-19 patients in China, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The antibodies potently “neutralized” all the strains, which are “widely scattered on the phylogenic tree,” the researchers noted.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 10,113 on Wednesday after new infections were confirmed in the country. Pakistan also saw another deadliest day as it was the third occasion that 17 coronavirus patients died in 24-hours in Pakistan.
