The fantasy about introducing the first-ever modern waste treatment system in the government capital despite everything stays unrealized.

He said that ministry had indicated several technical problems in the project and requested that the MCI check feasibility before starting the project. They raised questions on the scientific dumping site before the treatment system installation, he included.

He said that the authorities have hired an expert for feasibility studies and MCI would open a bid of  Rs300 million on April 30 to get the consultancy on the extension current strong waste treatment framework.

He said the expert was being employed to devise the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to smooth out the procedure of waste collection and its removal. The expert would chalk out a thorough arrangement that included financial model and waste collection protocols.

The authority said the whole procedure would take a while. To an inquiry, he said the foundation of a permanent landfill site in the government capital was additionally part of this task for which a land close Sangjani had been chosen subsequent to complete an Environment Impact Assessment report of the territory. The EAI had been submitted to the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency to get the No Objection Certificate, he included.

At present, government capital shows a grim picture with regards to the treatment of huge amounts of trash. Recently, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has set garbage cans of different sizes at the side of every road of Islamabad to gather the family trash, he stated, naming the strategy as an obsolete in the present time.

He lamented that the all produced trash was being dumped in a private area I-12, where an impermanent dumping site was set up 10 years back by the civil authorities.
