As said, today, Huawei held a scheduled conference in China. At the event, the company announced a number of new and amazing products that have been launched a few days ago internationally.

But like any other conference, this time, it also revealed some data concerning its performance. Usually, manufacturers like to introduce data they can boast of. But this is not the case of Huawei. It really does have many reasons to talk loudly in praise of itself. At the online press conference, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong first announced the 2019 results. It turns out Huawei’s consumer business achieved sales revenue of 467.3 billion yuan ($66 billion), an increase of 34% year-on-year. Join GizChina on Telegram

Though many may think 5G is the main business of the company because it has reached a number of 5G contracts worldwide, in the smartphone business it performs quite well as well. So, smartphone shipments exceeded 240 million units. In other words, it ranks second in the world. As you guess, Samsung is the first. At the same time, notebook shipments were increased by 200% year-on-year, smart wearables shipments are up by 170%, and smart audio products shipments grew by 200%.

In 2019, Huawei’s R & D expenses amounted to 131.7 billion yuan ($19 billion), accounting for 15.3% of annual sales. There are 85,000 effective patents in the world, with 90% of invention patents. As it has 3524 patent applications in the European Patent Office, in this region it ranks first.

At the end of March, Huawei released the P40 series smartphones overseas. They are also the first Huawei flagship phones to be officially equipped with Huawei’s HMS mobile service and AppGallery application store.

Because of the inability to use Google’s GMS and Play Store, Huawei began to vigorously promote the construction of its own ecosystem since last year and launched the HMS mobile service and AppGallery application store.

According to the information released by Huawei, Huawei HMS has covered more than 170 countries around the world. There are 400 million monthly active users. Also, the company has attracted 1.3 million developers and partners worldwide. As for the AppGallery app store, it has at least 55,000 applications. Join GizChina on Telegram

For Huawei, the HMS service and AppGallery application store will take time to improve. In terms of the number of applications, the AppGallery application store is comparable to the Google Play store. The latest data shows that the number of applications on the Play store exceeds 1.43 million. It is better than iOS with more than 1.21 million apps.

Some source reports that Huawei is actively negotiating with relevant manufacturers, hoping that the applications in the Play Market will be available on the Huawei AppGallery application store. So users in Huawei’s overseas regions can use Google services again.

Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer terminal business, also expressed similar ideas in an interview after the P40 conference. Particularly, he said that Huawei still hopes to cooperate with Google to carry the Play Store application.
