1st Novel Coronavirus case detected in Pakistan

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza gave confirmation regarding the first Novel Coronavirus case detected in Pakistan.

1st Novel Coronavirus case detected in PakistanHe said in statement that “I can confirm first two cases of corona virus in Pakistan, one is in Karachi and second in Islamabad.  Both cases are being taken care of according to clinical standard protocols & both of them are stable”.

He also emphasized that there was no need to panic in this situation as all things are under control and well supervised.

He informed the citizens  that a helpline 1166 had been set up for coronavirus case in Pakistan. Please don’t hesitate to call on the number.

He issued directives to the authorities for screening all those who have traveled to Iran in the past few days.

All the educational institutes in Sindh and Balochistan have been ordered to remain close as a precautionary measure.

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani tweeted that “All government and private educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday & Friday (27th & 28th Feb),”

Balochistan Education Minister Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind announced to extend vacations till March 15 in province.

The Punjab government has declared a high alert across the province after the Coronavirus cases were reported in Karachi and Islamabad.

Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has formed a task force for dealing with the Coronavirus cases in Sindh. The task force comprises chief secretary, secretary health, commissioner Karachi and other officials are working under the supervision of the chief minister.

Precautionary measures should be adopted for protecting themselves from Coronavirus which includes cleaning hands with soap & water or alcohol-based hand rub, covering nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow, avoiding close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms, thoroughly cook meat and eggs and avoiding unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals
