Mosquito species found in many parts of the world can transmit a number of diseases, such as malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever. Because there is no specific treatment for many of the mosquito-borne diseases, and few vaccines or medicines available to prevent them, the best protection is to avoid mosquito bites. (Also see your doctor before travel for anti-malarial medication if going to a malaria-risk area.)


Over 1 million people die from mosquito-borne diseases every year, and hundreds of millions more experience pain and suffering from illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes. An important instruction to prevent from mosquito bites is to destroy mosquito growing places. Now a days there is big problem of dengue fever and a lot of work has been done to save the people from dengue fever.


One way to control mosquito borne diseases is to grow mosquito repellent plants.Some insect grown well on green placesparticularly on green plants. But many people like greenery, so a lot of research has been done to find mosquito repellent plants.


This article will provide good information and suggestions to horticulturist, landscaper and many other people to use mosquito repellent or resistant plants in their lawn, public or private parks and in landscape. These plants contain different chemicals and smell which repel the mosquitos. The plants include Cedar (Thuja species), African marigold, French marigold, Ageratum, Cinnamon basil (Niazboo), Karonda, Muraya exotica, Clove tree, Lemmon balm, Thyme (Janglipodina), Peppermint, Rosemary, Lemmon grass, Lavender, Garlic, Floss flower, Eucalyptus, Pitcher plant, Fern, Lantana camara and mostly medicinal plants. These plants have much potential to make our environment neat and clean and can save us from mosquitoborne diseases to some extent.
