STAFF REPORT KHI: A seminar on Greener DHA organized by Institute of Architects Pakistan in collaboration with DHA has recently been held at Defence Authority Country and Golf Club. Administrator DHA Brig Zubair Ahmed was chief guest on the occasion.


The Administrator termed the seminar as a remarkable initiative heralding the beginning of a reinvigorated awareness in society for preservation of nature and promotion of horticulture to ensure greener, cleaner and healthy environment for a vibrant living.


He reiterated that DHA is committed to promotion of greenery and plantation in the area to provide aesthetically vibrant living environment to its residents.


Brig. Zubair Ahmed said that green colour has multifarious ramifications ranging from horticulture to architectural design encompassing master planning, engineering and execution components. He stressed that DHA has made significant inroads towards this end by practically implementing greener policies and regulations in all its undertakings and planning for mega projects.


Horticulturists, landscape specialists and experts highlighted importance of trees and their benefits, recommended appropriate species for fruitful plantation in area. They also recommended various scientific techniques for maintaining health of trees through application of pruning, protection methods.


Earlier, Ayesha Chaudry, Secretary Defence Central Library, in her welcome address said that the seminar would help in chalking out an effective methodology for maintaining a fine balance between development and preservation of natural environment.
