The Government of Japan is offering doctoral scholarships in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS-GIS) of School of Engineering and Technology (SET) for qualified applicants from the following 3 priority countries.

The applicants from Pakistan, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Timore-Leste, India, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka are eligible for the application.

Applicants must have strong academic records (both undergraduate and graduate) and normally hold a four-year bachelors degree, and a Masters degree, preferably with a combination of course and thesis work, from an institution of good standing, acceptable to AIT. The minimum GPA requirement for admission to the doctoral program is 3.50 or equivalent at the masters degree level. The applicants are required to submit a brief outline of dissertation research proposal including the required research facilities, if necessary and receive a written confirmation that a faculty member at AIT is available and willing to supervise.

The applications for the scholarship can be submitted online on the webiste or it can be mailed to the university. The Application deadline is 10 November 2015.

The scholarship includes following supports tuition and registration fees ( maximum 6 semesters), Bursary and accommodation costs, Visa fee, Medical insurance, One round-trip international air travel-economy class (for non-Thai applicants), Research support, and Student Union fee.
