STAFF REPORT ISB: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council’s (PARC’s) maize variety evaluation committee (VEC) has ratified nine maize hybrid varieties. The VEC on rice was held under Member Crops Sciences Division Chairman Dr Shahid Masood.


It joins six yellow and three white crossbreeds, one white open-pollinated (OP) variety of maize and two SS hybrids (as grub). Four recommended varieties fit in with multinational and four to the national seed associations.


PARC Chairman Dr Nadeem Amjad recognized the efforts of the scientists and diverse accomplices for showing new maize collections. He said, “I expect that the presentation of new maize verities would convey promising item yield and help agriculturists with raising their compensation to upgrade their occupation and finally accept their parts in building of general economy of the country”.


The SS fodder hybrids, having a spot with PARC, are high yielding with more broad adaptability. They would be available at less costly cost and offer plans to import substitute to nourish seeds, which at this moment weighs around 25,000 tons and costs huge measure of remote exchange.
