STAFF REPORT G-B: The three-day international conference on Mountain and Climate Change- Resources, Challenges and Opportunities for Better Life and Livelihoods has begun. The main objectives of the conference are to gel up the stakeholders including scientists, academicians, researchers, journalists, civil society, and policy makers etc. to mull for socio-economic change and improving life quality of people living in mountain areas by providing them viable livelihood opportunities which are inadequate and constantly quelling due to adverse impacts of climate change.


Senior official of WWF-Pak said on the inaugural session of the conference, “The conference is an ongoing effort to enhance communities resilient for better adaptation to climate change and mitigation through joint integrated efforts of the organizations and government counterparts”. The conference was mutually organized by World Wide Fund Pakistan (WWF-Pak), Korakoram International University (KIU) Gilgit-Baltistan, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Integrated Mountain Area Research Centre (IMARC), and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) along with other partner organization.
