STAFF REPORT ISB: The agriculture sector uplifting can boost Pakistan`s economy to great extent and intensive RandD developments and foreign linkages are required to impart innovative technologies in this field. Based on these lines, Chinese Delegation from Lanzhou University-China and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) framed a formal agreement for mutual cooperation in a meeting held recently.


The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Secretary PARC, Dr Munir Ahmad and President of Lanzhou University (LZU) China, Prof Dr Wang Cheng. According to the MoU both the organization would collaborate with each other for research and development by sharing the knowledge, expertise, scientific material and information; facilitate exchange of faculty, researchers and administrative officers / staff; jointly plan and organize international conferences and workshops, provide funds for the establishment of laboratory for “Ecological Cycle Agriculture Research and Development Center”, research exhibition area and technological manpower; and execute collaborative research projects in agriculture, livestock, ecology, microbiology, environments, bio-energy and other mutually identified priority areas and jointly publish co-authored high impact SCI papers.


The focal persons present on the occasion including Dr Azeem Khan, Chairman NARC welcomed the cooperation and deemed that the agreement will open up new spheres of cooperation in agriculture sector and various new technological advancements in the field will be seen in coming years due to this agreement.
