Prof Dr Muhammad Hassan Amir Shah sits on GCU throne as VC

STAFF REPORT LHR: The Government College University (GCU) Lahore is one of the finest varsities of the country. Prof Dr Muhammad Hassan Amir Shah has assumed charged as Vice Chancellor of GCU. He is the 30th VC of the university since 151 years rich history of the institution.

Prof Dr Muhammad Hassan Amir Shah has an illustrious career. His services have been recognized at government level as he is the recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz. Prof Hassan was post-doctoral fellow at several reputed foreign institutions including the University of Sussex London, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy and the Space Physics Institute, Rome. He still has research collaborations with top institutions of the world. He produced more than 110 research articles published in renowned international journals. He has served GCU for 13 years as Professor and Head of Physics Department.

Newly appointed VC said while talking to media, “The education system in Pakistan is in the process of evolution and academia shoulders an important responsibility to create enabling and healthy learning environment for students. My utmost ambition is to bring innovation in learning and taking GCU to a certain level. The government also needs to provide adequate financial resources to varsities to bring education sector at desired level”.
