STAFF REPORT KHI: The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has approved the K-2, K-3 nuclear power plants (2200 MW) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.


The twin nuclear power plants of Karachi faced immense bashing from critics in the past raising concerns pertaining to environment. However, in the public hearing of the project held on April 27, 2015, the public dismissed the concerns and sanctioned the power plants construction comprehensively. The SEPA approval of EIA of the projects marks the defeat of critics on all frontiers.


According to the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) scientists, the Karachi nuclear power plants are eco-friendly, cost effective projects and are imperative to address the energy crisis of the country.
