Staff Report BWP: Quaid-e Azam Solar Power Park was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Shareef on Tuesday. It is the first ever solar power park in the history of Pakistan.
The project was completed in a brief span of 11 months along with Chinese government support. The cost of the project is Rs. 15 billion and is spread over an area of 500 acres. The generation capacity of the solar park is 100MW.Prime Minister also announced reward of Rs. 200, 00,000 to the work force as a token of appreciation that completed the project in succinct time. Prime Minister also hoped that the menace of load shedding will end till year 2018. Notable government officials including Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Acting Governor Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong were also present in inauguration ceremony.
